The 5th Forum of the Series, this Free event includes Presentations by John Shiel and Richard Weller followed by a panel discussion/question session.
–
John is a retired Engineer who has studied and worked on the climate issue and has published scientific papers in the field. Increases in bushfire are impacting on the cost of living through our insurance premiums. Some areas may already be approaching such high risk that insurance for bushfire may not be available. John’s talk, titled “Adapting to Increasing Bushfire”, delves into the changing regime of fuel and fire weather including how fires make their own weather. Find out how the warming climate is driving this change and the increasing risk to all of us.
Richard will present about the latest climate news and discuss the increasing cascade of extreme events and the policies needed. Governments around the world have failed to stop greenhouse gas concentrations rising. You will hear what policies are now needed to get us back on track to the Paris goals.
–
The final session will be a Panel discussion about risks on the Coast and the way forward with options for those wanting to take action.

Come and learn about how our climate is changing, what might be in store and how we must react.
