Council owned community properties mostly do not harvest rainwater for toilet flushing. However, twenty (20) Gosford City Council community buildings and amenities (parks, playing fields and the like) have had installations completed recently using 10,000L rainwater tanks. Further future installations are planned for the Gosford area.
Another five (5) rainwater tank installations have been completed in the Wyong Shire Council area with a further ten (10) tank installations to follow.
In 2008, it is planned that ten (10) such installations will be undertaken on the University of Newcastle's Ourimbah Campus.
'Tanks for the Coast' is a partnership with Work for the Dole (Workwise), Community Environment Network (CEN), local area Council's and Australian Water Grants.
