Working together to preserve our Central Coast Environment

22 GROUPS SIGN OPEN LETTER FORMALLY OBJECTING TO LIBRARY DEMOLITION

The Central Coast Community Better Planning Groups (CCCBPG), supported by a powerful alliance of 21 other diverse community organisations including the family of the architect of the iconic Kibble Park Library building, formally submitted of an open letter to the Central Coast Council, unequivocally objecting to the proposed demolition of the building.

The open letter, which now boasts an impressive 22 signatories, emphasises the widespread community sentiment against the demolition plan.

This represents a significant increase from the 12 signatures previously presented at a Councillor Review Panel meeting, underscoring the growing public concern.

The signatories include a wide array of vital community groups such as residents’ associations, the regional Country Women’s Association, and dedicated family history and heritage groups, all deeply rooted in the Central Coast.

“Our collective voice is clear: the Kibble Park Library building is a cherished part of our heritage and community identity,” said Joy Cooper, spokesperson for the Central Coast Community Better Planning Group.

“The overwhelming support for this open letter, now with 20 distinct community groups and the architect’s family, demonstrates the depth of opposition to its demolition. We urge the Central Coast Council to listen to the community and abandon these destructive plans.”

The submitted open letter formally requests to be included as part of the survey process and to be officially recorded as a clear and unambiguous objection to the demolition. The coalition has intentionally focused on community groups and the architect’s family as signatories, ensuring the letter represents a robust and unified community stance.

The Central Coast Community Better Planning Group and allied organisations remain committed to advocating for responsible planning decisions that preserve the cultural and historical assets of the region.
