Are you a landholder or community member living in the Ourimbah Creek Catchment? Would you like to help map the distribution of platypus on the Central Coast and protect habitat for this iconic species? Central Coast Platypus Watch needs your help!
We are seeking enthusiastic landholders and community members interested in testing their waterways for platypus. Volunteers will be trained in the exciting eDNA collection process and help us collect samples in September to identify platypus hotspots.
As part of the program, selected landholders within the catchment, will receive a free land management assessment from our Landcare Officer. Land management plans will include targeted remediation works, and the opportunity for landholders to work with our bush regen team at their property, to enhance platypus habitat along the waterway. This is a fantastic opportunity for community members to get involved with the conservation of platypus on the Central Coast!
