Energy use is the main culprit in human production of green house gases. To reduce our emissions, the most easily tackled sectors are electricity production and our vehicle fleet. We can achieve more than 50% reduction in Australia's emissions by replacing both of these with renewables. This is what is required within the coming decade in order to achieve the pathway to less than 2C as stated by our scientists. We can tackle both these emissions sectors through the construction of renewable energy power stations.
Following an introduction by Richard Weller, Dr. Jo Muller will present on the use of roof top solar, reducing energy use in the home and the wider problem of replacement of the generation network. Jo is a scientist with experience in solar cookers and has worked on water purification systems. He advises home owners on assessing roof top solar and the potential savings in electricity bills.
Richard Weller will give the background of global warming and the emergency, the need for government support of renewable energy power and how electric vehicles can be introduced.
