The Community Environment Network (CEN) has been protecting nature and working for a sustainable and diverse environment since 1997. We cannot do it without our loyal volunteers, members and donors.

We have multiple membership options for individuals and groups. It is easy to join for the first time or renew your CEN membership via this website.

Thank you for deciding to support the work of the Community Environment Network – the Central Coast’s peak environmental organisation. CEN is a not-for-profit registered charity committed to Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD). Every new member helps us to continue our work to protect nature.

Every day we work to enhance sustainability and defend biodiversity on the NSW Central Coast and beyond. Your CEN membership will contribute to:

  • Seed collection and propagation of species endemic to the NSW Central Coast
  • Citizen science programs to test the water quality of local creeks, rivers and estuaries
  • Programs to eliminate invasive species from bushland
  • Events including Waterbug Workshops and Breakfast with the Birds

And so much more. New members receive two free plants at CEN’s Wildplant Nursery and a membership card with your unique Member ID. You will be added to our monthly newsletter mailing list and given priority invitations to our events and workshops.

We look forward to sharing our programs, projects, and campaigns with you during the next 12 months and beyond.

The Community Environment Network (CEN) is an alliance of community and environment groups from the NSW Central Coast and Lake Macquarie.

CEN regularly posts jobs and volunteer opportunities that are available in the Central Coast and Macquarie Lakes regions.

The CEN is a non-government community group that works for Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD) and against threats to it.

The Aims and Objectives of the CEN include the following:

  • To increase the effectiveness of community groups by networking and facilitating efforts to achieve ESD.
  • To be a significant regional voice on the Central Coast with respect to the environment.
  • To provide a forum for public discussion and education about the environment.
  • To increase public awareness and understanding through awareness, education and promotion of ESD and how it may be achieved.
  • To promote community monitoring of the environment and action to achieve ESD.
  • To facilitate the empowerment of individuals and to encourage them to take an active and positive role in enhancing their environment.
