Environmental Weed Profiles
A guide to identifying environmental weeds in your local Central Coast area...
Environmental weeds are a
major issue in the Australian environment today. Weeds pose a significant threat
to the natural environment as they invade remnant native bushland and can
out-compete native species for space and nutrients. Weeds also interfere with
natural processes that support our native flora and fauna.
Once established in
an area many weeds are often difficult to eradicate. It is important that all
members of the community play their part in the control of weeds as they smother
and kill native plants, affect native animals and can dramatically change whole
ecosystems.
These environmental weed profile sheets intend to provide information to community members on the
identification, impact and control of weeds commonly found in the Central Coast region of New South Wales. The environmental weed profiles have been divided into six categories for easy identification. When you print out a profile sheet you have room at the end to write your own notes about the weed and your site.
To view the weed profiles you will need to have Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. If you do not, you can download it for free -
